Mixed Prints

When I was re-evaluating my look going into Spring 2010 I realized I wear too many simple, solid colored pieces and decided to switch it up and try something new. While looking online at different look books, I opted to go for for the risky and loud print on print idea. Mixing prints takes skill because you can't just throw 2 completely different prints together, you have to evaluate the geometric shapes, the type of pattern, and the colors. Even though the patterns are different they can still compliment each other and the make the outfit very unique, but come together at the same time. There are less obvious ways to mix prints by using more subtle colors like black and white like Rachel Bilson, Whitney Port, and Rihanna did in the pictures below. Try mixing prints this summer, take a risk! Xo

2010 BET Likes

This years BET awards was somewhat of a fashion disappointment for me. For the most part a lot of the dresses looked the same they were short and way too busy in my opinion. Cassie usually always impresses me, but this year her mix of Givenchy and Charotte Ronson didn't do it for me. As for what I liked, Nicki Minaj was my absolute favorite, the dress was gorgeous, you can't go wrong in a flowy Rochas dress. Her jewelry choice also really set it off, simple and chic. I love Ciara's dress, the detail was beautiful, but the boots wouldn't have been my first choice to pair it with. Lauren London's look was a great look for her, the green and gold tones in the sequin top really complimented her skin tone and brought out her new, lighter hair color, LOVED IT! Melody Thorton has a great simple yet trendy style that's always a little risky and keeps people talking, but never too much. Her legs look amazing and the dress really compliments her figure. My last look I liked was Eva Marcille's, it looks like something I would go for, a simple dress with a different type of cut and some statement pumps . To me, accessories are always key. Xo

JS Wooden Platforms

I have this obsession with platform heels and as soon as I saw the Jessica Simpson T-Strap wooden platform heels I fell in love. What every girl needs is a shoe she can wear for seasons, and these would look great all through spring, summer and fall. In the spring and summer, I would wear them with a sun dress or leggings and a tunic. In the fall, black opaque tights are my go-to item and would look amazing paired with a baggy or flowy dress, I tend to stay away from very form fitting dresses in the fall, but that's just me. These platforms are also affordable which makes it much better so you can splurge on something else, I'm all about mixing highs and lows. FYI clogs are making a comeback..I'm excited! Xo

I'm Back!

I've been neglecting my blog for a while now and thought I'd come back and share some of the amazing inspiration I've been getting from celebrities and other fashionistas on the daily. Xo
